The Government Denied that Some Islands have been Sold

Agus DerThe Ministry of Marine Affair and Fisheries (KemenKP) denied that some islands have been sold in Indonesia. The offer appeared on the page of only related to the sale of some resorts in a number of islands in Indonesia.

"There is no sale of Gambar Island in Java Sea and Gili Nanggu Island in Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat. We have checked it with the regional government and therefore our staff is there," said the Director for Area Conservation and Fish Species, KemenKP, Agus Dermawan in Batang, Central Java, Thursday (6/9).

According to him, the local Fishery Service office that conducted the investigation in the fieldsaid that they were just leasing some resorts in those islands.
Agus said that based on the research made at the localNational Land Agency, people had worked on the 12 hectares out of the 14,2 hectares of Gili NanguIsland area on behalf of two persons. Then according to Agus, the islands have been used by the owner to develop hotel and resort businesses by building a company with the status of Right of Land Cultivation (HGU).
It is clear that in principle the government is not going to allow sale of islands. The works carried out on the outermost and remote islands are under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Politics, Law and Security Affairs. Source :
